When should I have my newborn baby photographed?

 

The best time to have your newborn baby photo session is within the first 5-10 days of them being born. This will ensure that your baby will be at their sleepiest allowing me to get your baby in all those adorable sleepy, curled up poses. Also baby acne has a tendency to develop after two weeks.

 

When should I book my newborn session?

 

Newborn sessions should be booked in advance, while you are still pregnant, as they need to take place shortly after your baby is born. An appointment is booked for 5 days after your due date. As soon as your baby is born, call for a confirmed date and time. Newborn photo sessions always get priority

 

I only book a few photo sessions a week and only one per day so it’s important to book your session in advance.

Newborn sessions can take up to 3-4 hours

 

How do I prepare for my newborn baby photo session?

 

Your newborn baby should be wearing loose-fitting clothing.

 

Keep the nappy loose to prevent making lines on your baby’s skin.

 

Make sure you have enough milk and nappies to last 4-5 hours just in case the session lasts longer.

 

If your newborn baby takes a pacifier, bring it with you to their session.

 

Try to schedule your newborn baby feed when you first arrive. We need him or her well fed and sleepy.

 

It’s important to create a quiet atmosphere to keep your newborn baby calm and asleep for their photo session. Young siblings that could startle your newborn baby need to be watched by an adult in another room.

 

It’s so beautiful capturing Mum, Dad and other siblings with your newborn baby. To keep the focus on the new baby parents and siblings should bring a solid black and white shirt, blouse or jumper.

I guarantee that with a nappy free newborn baby there will be accidents on you, myself and/or my props. That is ok.
