Grandma gets to take the pictures!
As a grandma I was so excited to finally be able to meet our grandson, Hugo, when he was 9 days old.
It’s too much for a new mum to have to travel for 4 hours to her newborn session. So we travelled down to Kent to photograph our new grandson. One of the perks of having a step-mum who is a newborn photographer. It also gave us time to spend with our granddaughter, Marnie, as Hugo is their second child.
It is so nice to be able to give a gift such as this that will hold memories for a lifetime.
I set up a small studio in their dinning room which was the perfect space out of the way.
My step-daughter and I went through a few of the outfits that I brought with me choosing the ones that she liked best.
Siblings
I wasn’t sure how the sibling part of the session was going to go as Marnie was only one year old. It is a bit of a lottery as you just don’t know how siblings will react until the last moment. But to our amazement she was a little angel.
Hugo and I spent a lovely time together after the sibling photos were taken. He was happy to let me move into the newborn poses. Changing outfits or adding a wrap along the way. At one point he got a little hungry. Grandma got to give him his bottle which gave me time to have a nice cuddle with him. Those are some of the most intimate moments between a grandparent and grandchild.
Afterwards I was told that he was colicky. I never noticed it during his session. He was perfect for grandma. Giving us all some amazing pictures of him to last a lifetime.
